Fresh off the back of his debut album 'The Sound of Surprise : Live at The Side Door', which has already garnered over 150,000 plays on Spotify, Mike Casey is back with an ingenious rework of the Beatles classic 'Norwegian Wood.'
Recorded live at a Sofar Sounds in NYC, Casey and the rest of his trio showcase everything that's great about jazz music in 2017 with zany bass lines and a towering alto sax marching along the tracks narrative. The invite-only setting of a Sofar Sounds venue no doubt played into the hands of the talented trio who would have made sure to fill every inch of the intimate venue with their dynamic sound.
Having crowdfunded his first album with no label support whilst gaining fans such as Sonny Rollins and Quincy Jones in the process, it's clear that Mike Casey is an artist very much still enjoying the upward trajectory of what promises to be a very successful career. And his next stop is none other than Brooklyn Jazz Festival.
