Sam Wills at The Lexington

After a very slow Monday back at work full of meetings and a lot of clock checking we headed off to The Lexington to see Sam Wills perform a sold out headline show at The Lexington.

On support duties for the evening was the incredible Iyamah who warmed up the crowd with her powerhouse soulful vocals, sending whispers of “wow, she’s amazing” rippling through the audience.

After a brief interval, Sam Wills and his band took to the stage and wasted no time in getting the crowd moving by launching into ‘Electrified’, taken from his 2016 EP So Bright.

Having just released his new Walking Under Water EP a matter of days ago we were keen to hear how the tracks would translate to the live stage and we weren’t left disappointed. From the groove-heavy bass of ‘Kool Aid’ to the defining chords in ‘Years’, all of his new material was lapped up by the crowd, many of whom had already learnt most of the lyrics, a clear testament to Sam's songwriting.

Other highlights of the set included a cover of Jorja Smith’s ‘Where Did I Go?’ which Sam co-wrote, and a surprise encore performance of his hit with Tom Misch, ‘In The Midst Of It All’.

This was a flawless performance from an artist we're sure you're going to be seeing a lot more of this year. We can't insist enough that you make it along to his next show.
