Welcome to the beginning of our new series: ‘Song of the Week’. It’s as simple as it sounds, every Friday we hit you with our favourite track this week to get you ready for the weekend.
The week’s track comes from the Australian producer Kailo, a Sydney-based student who has been throwing out tracks for the last three years.
His latest tune ‘Kailonada’ is, as you might have guessed, a testament to the wondrous Kaytranada. You can feel it as the claps and layered synths build up; he’s borrowed everything that makes a Kaytranda track flow so well. As confessed on Facebook, “It would be an understatement to say after seeing Kaytranada perform in my hometown during his world tour that i've been super inspired by his work.”
So what makes it stand out? Those damn drums. Those double stroke rolls sent from heaven; raw, organic drum breaks that give this track its spirit.
If that wasn’t enough, the last section of the song is dedicated to a half-tempo groove-out to revel in the song’s smooth quality.
This multitalented guy is here to stay, check out the rest of his work below.
