We could say this every week, but the last seven days have seen some extremely impressive music hit the airwaves. New releases from the likes of Freddie Joachim, Rob Araujo, Gareth Donkin and so many more are treasures to get your hands (or ears) on. Check out our ‘Tracks of the Month’ playlist for all of this goodness in one place.
But before you do that, we did actually chose a track for this week. And it comes from a producer who has delivered a seriously tight fill of Kaytranada-esque beats that we’ve not had on here for a while.
Aaron Brockovich is probably not a name you’re familiar with. But this LA-based producer is on the rise. After a handful of releases over the last year, he’s garnered a notable online following. An experimenter by nature, he’s tried his hand at a variety of genres from disco to house and R&B. His release ‘Light’ a few months back was a particular treat.
But this time he’s really wowed us. Nabbing the vocal sample from a Mariah Carey 90s classic, he’s reworked it around a neatly put together combination of breakbeat drums, thumping bass and bouncy piano chords. And what a groove it is, perfect for an early afternoon rooftop live set.
The bad news is that he’s across the water from us over in the US. The good news is that according to his Twitter, he’s officially done with college, so we’re hoping for more music on the way. Oh, he also has pretty tidy taste in music so have a dive into his Soundcloud page for some decent jams.
‘Make It Happen’? With tracks like this, he certainly will.
